Welcome to Abbott's TaeKwonDo America!

We'd like to welcome you to Abbott's TaeKwonDo America!

As a student at Abbott's Taekwondo America (Abbott's), you are also a member of Taekwondo America (TA). At Abbott's, we strive to provide a professional environment, where students and their families feel welcome. So although you may be the only one taking class as a student, you and your family are all considered members of Abbott's. As members, you are all subject to the rules and regulations while in the school, or at any Abbott's/TA event. Many aspects of a quality martial arts program can only be learned in time, and we understand that this will be a learning process for both you and your family. The letter to the right will help answer some of your questions. Please don't hesitate to ask about things not covered or any other concerns that may arise.

Mr. Abbott is a 4th Degree Senior Black Belt in TaeKwonDo and has been studying the art form for over 20 years. Nineteen years of that time has been spent teaching others the art of TaeKwonDo. He and his wife opened the Blacksburg location of TaeKwonDo America on November 5th, 2003 and with the help of their students, hope to make it the best school in the organization.

Mrs. Abbott is a 2nd Degree Decided Black Belt, a Certified Instructor and the Program Coordinator for the schools. Simply put; she keeps Mr. Abbott on task and on time. She is also the head of the Cardio-Kickboxing Program and mother of the One-Day-Black-Belts William and Emily.

Mr. Santoroski is a 3rd Degree Senior Black Belt and a Senior Certified Instructor. Roanoke College's web master, he has been doing TKD since 1999 after watching Star Wars The Phantom Menace's epic fight between Qui Gon, Obi Wan and Darth Maul. He is the father of TKD student Mark Santoroski. When he's not doing TKD, he likes to trail run and hike. Recently, Mr. Santoroski completed the Northface Endurance Challenge Marathon in Sterling, Virginia.

You can often find Miss Hogan training at both the Roanoke and Blacksburg school in an attempt to get equal instruction from both schools.>

Mr. Hubbard is a 2nd Degree Decided Black Belt and Certified Instructor. Jason has been training in TaeKwonDo since 2005 and has also trained in various other martial arts, including ninjutsu, aikijutsu and karate. He graduated from Radford Universtiy with a Minor in Martial Arts. In addition to teaching, he helps run the Demo Team. His son, Philip is also a Black Belt and Instructor Trainee.

Mr. Hollie is a 3rd Degree Black Belt and Junior Certified Instructor. In Mr. Hollie's own words - "Oh heya, I didn’t see you walk in... My name is Christopher Hollie, I go by Chris or Christopher. I have been doing Taekwondo since I was 8 years old. I am 15. I am a 3rd Degree Black Belt and will test again in January. I have been an instructor since I was 10 and became a Junior Certified Instructor, when I became eligible, at age 13. I am a freshman at Christiansburg High. I play football and am both an offensive and defensive lineman. I also run Indoor and outdoor track (shot put all the way). I love to text and eat. My favorite food is peanuts and sunflower seeds and a good tailgating burger. Yeah, you know what I’m talkin’ bout. My favorite sports teams are the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Tigers. So, if you want to know more about me just ask."

Chris started in TaeKwonDo in 2003 in Vienna VA where he earned his Junior Black Belt in "World TaeKwonDo Federation" style TaeKwonDo under the direction of Mountain Kim in August 2005. He joined Abbott's in January 2006 where he learned "International TaeKwonDo Federation" style TaeKwonDo and continued earning higher belts. His brother and mother are also Black Belts at Abbott's.

Miss Gregory is a 2nd Degree Black Belt and Instructor Trainee. She started TaeKwonDo in February of 2006, with Mr. Lacy. She will be testing for her 2nd Degree Decided Black Belt in December, and her Junior Certified Instructor, hopefully, in May of 2011. She enjoys playing around and having a good time while she teaches, but she gets her point across in the end. She is at the school teaching pretty much everyday, and she tries to take class at least two days a week.
