For the next testing cycle, Mr. Abbott will be alternating weekly between the schools. His plan to be at the schools Tuesday through Friday, alternating weekly between Roanoke and Blacksburg.

We are holding a Tournament Prep session on Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 9am to 12pm(noon) at Fallon Park Elementary (see links below for directions.) We would like all belt levels be there at 9am and attend the whole session. Even if you are not planning on going to the National Tournament in September, please come to help your fellow classmates get prepared. All instructors are REQUIRED to attend, unless excused by Mr. Abbott.

We are instituting the following schedule changes:

Blacksburg

Starting Saturday, September 4, 2010
10am Juniors Class is going to be a "Kidz Kardio" - wear workout type clothes (shorts, t-shirt)
11am Adults is going to be a Family Class with the possibility of alternating Saturdays being a Weapons Class

Roanoke

We will be holding our Awards Ceremonies on Monday, August 16th at 6:30PM for Roanoke at the Roanoke TKD school, and on Tuesday, August 17th at 6:30PM for Blacksburg at the Blacksburg TKD school. Please be in full white uniform. We would like to have a Potluck right after both, so bring a dish or two as well as a change of clothes (so that you can keep your uniform looking nice). You may also bring lawn chairs to sit on, but please make sure that they have the rubber/plastic covers over the feet so that they do not dig holes in the floor.

We have ended the Raffle Ticket sales and will announce the which school sold the most tickets at the Awards Ceremonies. The school that sells the most tickets wins a Skate Party!

The Demo at Steppin Out on Saturday was Awesome! Thanks to everyone who showed up to participate or support our students! We have some great pictuers and videos which we will have online ASAP. The Demo Team's choreographed forms and everyone's individual forms looked great and showed how hard you've all been working. Once again, you've all proven why we ARE Team Awesome and why Abbott's TKD is the best Martial Arts Program in Blacksburg and Roanoke!

We will be doing a Demo at Steppin Out again this year and we would like everyone to be able to participate! Our Demo Team has been working hard on some choreographed forms and fight scenes and they would like everyone to join them. You can do your form (or an old one that you like) and break a lot of wood! We had a great time last year!

We will be on the Community Stage (located on the corner of Roanoke Street and Main, right up from 7-11) and our timeslot is at 12PM(Noon) to 1PM, so if you want to participate, please show up by 11:45AM. Also, to participate, you must wear your full uniform. (If you don't want to participate in the Demo, please still come out to support your classmates!)

The Susan G. Komen Yardsale raised over $1000.00!!! Way To Go Everyone! Thanks to everyone who donated items and a Special Thanks to everyone who came out to help run the yardsale and make it a success!!

August 25th, 2010 will be the last day for the Daytime Classes (10am Junior and 11am Adult).

We will be having a Multi-Family Yard Sale at the Blacksburg Tae Kwon Do School on Saturday, July 24, 2010 - from 6AM until everything is gone! All proceeds go to the 2010 Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure Team. We raised a lot of donations for them last year, lets see if we can do the same (or better!) this year! If you have any items you would like to donate, please bring them to the TKD school by Friday, July 23, 2010.

We are holding another Tournament Prep this Saturday, July 10th, 2010 - so if you missed the last one, come out to this one! It will be held at Kipps Elementary this time (see directions below.) Please be sure to bring your gear, some water and some snacks. Wear clothing to workout in, but DO NOT wear your full uniform, just bring your belt. There will be NO Taekwondo Classes at either Blacksburg or Roanoke this day.

The 7PM Class on Mondays and Wednesdays is now Adults Only (17 and older), All Ranks. The 8PM Class on Mondays and Wednesdays is now Teens Only (13 to 16, or with Mr. Abbott's permission), All Ranks.

We will have a Mandatory Instructors' Meeting immediately following the Tournament Prep on Saturday. All instructors are REQUIRED to attend unless excused by Mr. Abbott.

We are adding a Juniors class on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10AM for the Summer. Also the 7PM class on Mondays and Wednesdays is now ADULTS ONLY {17 and up!} - Teens should come to the 8PM class on those days.

We are holding the Award Ceremony for Roanoke on Tuesday, June 15th, 2010 at the Roanoke TKD School at 6PM. Please wear your FULL UNIFORM. We will be going to CiCi's afterwards, so bring a change of clothes if you plan to join us.
The Blacksburg Award Ceremony will be on Wednesday, June 16th, 2010 at the Blacksburg TKD School at 6:30PM, wear your FULL UNIFORM (bring a change of clothes if you plan to stay for the potluck.) There will be a Potluck downstairs after the ceremony, so please bring a dish of something awesome to share.

There are NO TKD Classes at either school this day.

The Roanoke Awards Ceremony will be held 6PM on Monday, April 19th at the Roanoke TaeKwonDo School. You must be in FULL UNIFORM. We are planning to go to CiCi's Pizza afterwards, so you may want to bring a change of clothes. There are NO TKD Classes at either school this day.

Abbott's Blacksburg TaeKwonDo America would like to welcome the Roanoke TaeKwonDo School! Their new schedule is up on the Class Schedules page, be sure to look for other Roanoake TKD information to be available online throughout the week.

In order to help the Blacksburg Teens have more class options while they are on the alternate school schedule, we have added a early class. This class will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:00AM to Noon and is open teens and adults of all belt levels.

In an effort to offer better ways to handle your enrollment we have made several new options available. Please see Mr. Abbott to set up a time to sit down and go over your membership.

Our March Regional Tournament This Weekend - March 26th and 27th in Raleigh, NC. IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO SIGN UP! We want as many people as possible to be able to attend. Also, the deadline for the T-Shirt pre-order has passed, so if you want a shirt, they will be available for purchase at the tournament. Please note that the schools (Roanoke and Blacksburg) will be closed both days for the tournament.

We will be holding another Tournament Prep Class on Saturday, March 20th from 9am to Noon(12pm) at Kipps Elementary in Blacksburg. The last one was a lot of fun and was very beneficial for everyone. Wear workout clothes, such as your TKD pants and a t-shirt, you may opt to wear your uniform if you choose. Also, be sure to bring your gear and your belt. See you there!
